Age and child safety
In brief. SeeU is intended for users aged 16 and over. Any harm to children results in the immediate and permanent blocking of the account and a referral to law enforcement authorities. If you encounter anything of this kind, please notify us at safety@seeu.kz.
1. Minimum age
1.1. SeeU may be used by persons who have reached the age of 16. The app is not intended for, or directed at, children under 16.
1.2. Users aged 16 and 17 use SeeU with the consent of a parent or other legal guardian. By registering, the user confirms that such consent has been given.
1.3. The app shows a user’s card to strangers who are nearby. For this reason, the minimum age on SeeU is higher than on many social networks, and no exceptions to this rule are made.
2. Accounts belonging to children
If we learn, or have reasonable grounds to suspect, that an account is being used by a person under 16, the account will be blocked and deleted together with its data. A parent or other legal guardian may notify us of this at safety@seeu.kz, and we will help to delete the account.
3. Zero tolerance for child exploitation
3.1. The following are prohibited on SeeU:
- material depicting child sexual abuse or sexualising minors, in any form, including drawings and computer-generated images;
- grooming, that is, attempts to gain a minor’s trust for the purpose of sexual or other abuse;
- pressuring minors into explicit conversations, sending images or meeting;
- extortion and blackmail involving intimate images;
- trafficking in children and any form of their exploitation.
3.2. For such violations, the account and any accounts linked to it are blocked permanently and without warning. Material is preserved to the extent necessary for referral to law enforcement authorities and is referred to them in the manner established by the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
4. Protective measures
- Private communication only by mutual consent. Private messages and calls are possible only with mutual access, which is opened when people meet in person or between people who are in each other’s contacts.
- Anonymous cards. A card does not reveal a person’s name, phone number or account.
- Visible views. Every view of a card is visible to its owner, so it is impossible to select a “target” unnoticed.
- No location data. The scanner does not show where a person is and does not keep a history of movements.
- Reporting and blocking. These functions are available on every profile, post and message. Reports of harm to children are handled as a priority.
5. How to report a violation
- In the app: select “Report” on a profile, post or message and choose the appropriate reason.
- By email: safety@seeu.kz. Please state the username of the account and describe what happened. Do not send us the images themselves: a description and a link are sufficient.
- If a child is in immediate danger, call 112, or the police on 102.
- The helpline for children and young people in Kazakhstan: 150.
6. Information for parents
If your child is 16 or 17 and uses SeeU, please discuss with them the rules of safety when meeting people in person: to meet in busy places, to tell family members where they are going, never to send their photos to anyone and never to transfer money. If anything gives you cause for concern, write to us at safety@seeu.kz.
7. Child safety contact
The person responsible for child safety at SeeU can be contacted at safety@seeu.kz. Such enquiries are handled as a priority.
